Joseph Estrada, Vilma Santos lead stars who win the 2013 elections

Stars win and lost the 2013 elections. Photo credit:  TheChika.com

There’s no other place on earth will you see a political system so full of glittering celebrities but the Philippines. In this beautiful 7,107-island archipelago by the sea, politics have already intermarried with the entertainment world, so it’s a common scene to see a starlet sitting on the board of a municipal government, or a heavy-weight action star join a debate (albeit mediocrely) in the Senate or Congress.

The 2013 midterm elections saw more stars join the race to grab a slice of political glory. I really don’t know if it’s really the glory or the bounty that they’re after, but one thing is for sure, celebrities are a big hit in the elections.

SENATE RACE

For Movie and Television Review and Classification Board chairman Grace Poe, only daughter of Movie Queen Susan Roces and the late action king Fernando Poe, Jr., grabbed the first spot in the Senatorial election.

Charice Elopes with X-Factor Finalist : One-Time Singing Darling Turns from Bad to Worse

Did Charice really elope with X-Factor finalist
Allysa Quijano?

We've been mesmerized by her over-powering voice and when she belted ala-Whitney Houston, we just can't stop loving this diminutive lass. Even the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and Celine Dion fell for Charice's captivating voice. But whatever happened to her? Maybe the lure of superstardom and Hollywood kleig ate the better of this gal and the once lovable and hugable teen sensation has now become a wayward, wild child.

Remember when she had a total image make over? That stunned the public and earned her gazillions of criticisms that even her most loyal fans started to turn their backs on her.

And remember her crazy hairdos back when she was judging X-Factor Philippines? That made her a national lampoon on Philippine TV, a fashion blunder that merited her thousands of bashers in social media.

So what's next?

It now seems Charice has come out, blooming, blossoming and fresh the suffocation of the cold, dark closet.
Pictures, they say, speak thousands of words. And what's more obvious than these image?

Why Angelica Panganiban Should Never Feel Insecure with Angel Locsin

Spat between Angelica Panganiban and Angel Locsin?

I have read from a local tabloid this morning that Angelica Panganiban hasn’t gotten over Angel Locsin’s scene stealing performance in One More Try. If we can recall, the two actresses has quite a number of scenes together , although critics noticed how Angel’s role as the desperate mother of a dying child was portrayed so well and great! To worsen Angelica’s insecurity, at one thanksgiving party, the acclaimed actress was dumped by the press people, who showered their attention on Angel.

Opinion: Why I Shouldn’t Watch TV this Saturday Night

NO prime TV this Saturday

You will know when election time is coming because some weekly drama anthologies would recount the lives of a big-name candidate. I have really nothing against these politicians wanting to have their lives become an open book for the public to feast on and talk about. But please, if you are going to televise it, don’t make it run near—or on—campaign period and don’t make it sound like you’ve gone a lot in life, that your life is so soap-operatic. I bet we common people have been through more than you do, so don’t make us try to feel we’d really be happy to watch your hyped, romanticized biopic. I hope this TV stations always soliciting for true-to-life stories from audience would find time to really look for a tear-jerking material that’s worth watching on a Saturday night.

They knew him as the Comedy King, but for a lot of Filipinos, actor Dolphy, or Rodolfo Vera Quizon in real life, was considered the unofficial Father of Perpetual Help.
